The Monday Blues (from the friday fives)
1. Caitlyn just CANNOT stop crying for one single second. This is highly irritating, especially when I'm trying to get dinner cooked before Kevin gets back, Xavier needs his bath and the dog needs his feed. And Caitlyn just has to cry and cry. Yeah, right. I need a maid. Pronto.
2.Yesterday Xavier messed up our whole room; the clothes were like, vegetables in the market, the bed was in horrible shape, there was CHOCOLATE smothered on our table and the carpet had chocolate marks all over. Going by normal circumstances I would have TOTALLY flipped out and gotten Kevin, who was watching Grey's Anatomy's reruns on the couch, to lock the kids in their cribs, or something, but I found Xavier in the bathtub sitting there with chocolate all over his face and hands and everything, and he was licking off the chocolate from his hand (!!!!) and I just stood there and laughed so hard until I had to sit on the floor. Which amused Kevin so much that he came into the bathroom, picked Xavier up and asked him, "Is that nice?". Xavier went nodding, offering his hand to put in Kevin's mouth to which I found very, very amusing. After that Xavier asked, in this really cute voice, "Can I have some more, Daddy?"
To which, of course, I laughed even more and just totally forgot about our room and what Xavier did to my lovely carpet.
3. I am addicted to brownies. I know this is a really really weird THING to be addicted to, but seriously. I promised Cheryle I wouldn't stuff anymore chunks of them but they are so addicting (or is it just me?) I cannot stop. Well I was holding that up for two weeks (?!?! it's only been two weeks?!) and saturday I just totally gave in and made another batch, to Kevin's delight because he has been getting me to make them for the past two weeks.
I wonder how we maintain our weights.
4. I am back to experimenting with writing. This week alone I've come up with the first two chapters, without editing of course, which to me is considered quite fast, with the kids and Kevin and all that. Can you believe that?! Two chapters in a week. It's such a miracle. (I really think brownies help the enzymes in the brain and that creative juices are made up of brownie particles)
5. I've spent most of my weekend watching various parts of 'boys on the side', which HBO seems to have decided to run constantly this month. Can I just say that I LOVE this movie? I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out (twelve years ago, hello!) and loving it, so much that I bought the DVD. But with it playing on some HBO channel at any given moment all weekend, I can just keep seeing it, in bits and pieces for days at a time. Last night I turned it on at the very end, and just sat there and SOBBED. Very cathartic, although Kevin, at the other end of the couch, was rolling his eyes. I mean, it's got Whoopi Goldberg AND Mary Louise Parker (who I now love even more, from Weeds) AND Drew Barrymore AND Matthew McConaughey, in his pre-bandana and bongo playing days. Plus a great soundtrack. What more do you want? Also this weekend, I watched Cars, which was very good, although of course, because I am an US Weekly subscriber, every time I heard Owen Wilson's voice all I could think about was KATE'S HEARTBREAK, as him breaking up with her was totally booish.
Anyway. That's all for the week.
